Hello there, this is where you get to learn a little more about Dave Rode. Where to begin? Well for starters I come from a family of teachers. Both of my parents taught for over 30 years between New York and New Hampshire, my brother is a music teacher, my Uncle has taught math and computers at the college level, and as if that wasn't enough, I married an elementary school teacher!
I'm a life-long nerd who has been messing around with computers since the days of the Apple IIe. Since then I've honed my craft to the point of knowing just enough to be very dangerous. When I'm not doing something nerdy involving a computer, I'm probably being nerdy in some other capacity. I play the piano, I play video games, I play poker... basically... I like to play around a lot. I'm a movie buff, an avid fan of the Yankees, Celtics, UCF Knights and the New York Football Giants, and I enjoy the occasional Broadway show. I think that qualifies me as eclectic.
After growing up in a small town in New Hampshire I attended the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) where I earned a degree in Communications with an emphasis in radio and television. For the next ten years I would climb the ladder at various radio stations as a news anchor and reporter. I started at WDBO in Orlando before taking a job in Bangor, ME at Q106.5-FM. Finally my wife and I decided to move back to Florida and I was named news director at WINK News Radio, where I stayed for over 2 years.
Eventually I decided to leave the radio world behind and get into the family business. Last year I was given the opportunity to work at St. Charles as the Director of Technology, and a host of other duties. This year I'm happy to say I'll be added on as a teacher of computer science and music appreciation.
