Students attending Catholic elementary schools in the Province of Florida, Grades
Two through Eight participate in the Iowa Testing Programs. The Iowa Tests of Basic
Skills (ITBS) are administered to students in grades Three through Eight in the fall.
Grade Two students take the ITBS in the spring. These are standardized
achievement tests. The main purpose of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills is to provide
the school with information that can be used to improve instruction and to help
teachers make sound educational decisions about each student’s learning. In
addition, students in Grades Three, Five and Seven take Iowa Performance
Assessment Tests (IPAS). These tests focus on specific interrelated skills and are
taken in the fall.
