My name is Petra Brandt and I teach 3rd grade. I was born in Myjava, Slovakia. At the age of 9, my parents made a very difficult decision to move to the United States at the hopes of a better life for all of us. My first experience here was actually at St. Charles. My 3 cousins were attending St. Charles at the time, and the principal was so kind that he let us attend the last month of school at no charge to us. It has left a lasting impression on me, and I’m excited to be here, where it all began.

My 2 sisters and I attended Charlotte County schools until graduation; go Charlotte High. During my senior year at Charlotte I took Dual Credit courses, went to Edison Community College and received my AA, began attending Florida Gulf Coast University in 2000 and received my BA in 2002. I decided to further my education by enrolling in the Masters Program for Instruction and Curriculum, in which I received my MEd in Spring of 2004.

During my Masters Program, I married my wonderful husband Brian Brandt, we have now been married 5 years. In 2005 we moved to Tulsa, OK because we felt that God was leading us there to start a Christian Pool Hall. After a couple of years, that proved to be a difficult yet educational journey, during which I was the Store Manager at Famous Footwear. We are now back in Florida, where we belong.

This is my first teaching job, and I’m blessed for this opportunity. I have a lot of knowledge to offer your children and look forward to getting to know every one of them. I am excited about the 2010-2011 school year and can’t wait for what it has to offer.
